Questions, answered
Why isn't my favourite dish listed?
We're building the list together with our visitors. Submit it and our editors will review it — most submissions are handled within a week.
Can I vote more than once?
Yes — vote as often as you like, but each pair you're shown can only be voted on once. Voting is rate-limited to keep the ranking fair.
Do I need an account?
No. Voting is anonymous. Your personal taste profile is kept in your own browser.
How is the ranking calculated?
With the Elo rating system, the same one used in chess. Here's how it works.
What does “Provisional” mean?
The dish has played fewer than 20 matches, so its rating is still settling. Provisional ratings move faster than established ones.
Why was my submission rejected?
Usually because the dish is already listed under another name, isn't tied to a specific place, or the description was too short to check. If you left an email address we'll tell you why.
Who chooses the regions?
Our editors, based on where a dish is from. We use well-known culinary regions — Sicily, Sichuan, Bavaria — rather than strict administrative borders.
How do tournaments work?
Each tournament takes the eight best dishes in a category and pits them against each other in a knockout bracket. Fill in yours while it's live, then compare it with the community result.
